How much do sessions cost? Do you accept insurance?

Sessions are $90 for individuals, couples, and families. An income-based sliding scale is available upon request. I accept bishop / clergy payment, HSA, and some EAP’s.

I accept Aetna and MINES and Associates insurances.  Superbills are available for out of network insurance. If you’re unsure about your coverage or eligibility, don’t hesitate to reach out - I can help you confirm.

What are your specialties?

I am trained in EMDR (EMDRIA-approved training) and Parts and Memory I & II. I work with pre-adolescents aged 8-12, young adults, and adults through retirement. I have experience working with clients through Anxiety, Depression, and ADHD, mid-life issues, women’s issues, relationship distress, divorce, and retirement concerns.

What is EMDR?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is designed to help you change how past struggles impact how you show up in your daily life. Sometimes, experiencing hard things can lead to automatic negative thoughts such as “It’s my fault,” “I’m unlovable,” or “I’m broken.” Those thoughts, on repeat, over years, can cause us to internalize and believe them to be true, even when they’re not. EMDR provides a framework for clients to identify those thoughts and choose new, adaptive thoughts instead. Read more about EMDR and research-backed, EMDRIA-approved therapy here.

What ages do you see?

I have experience working with ages 8-retirement age, including individuals, couples, and families.

How do I prepare for my first session?

Here are some guidelines for an effective first session with me:

  1. Reflect on what your goals for therapy are. These can be broad, like "feeling stuck," or specific, like "improve my relationship with my spouse."

  1. Write things down: If anything specific comes to mind that you'd like me to know, make a note in your phone or a notebook.

  1. Prepare questions: feel free to have a list of questions to ask me about my approach, what to expect, anything!

  1. Be open: the first session is about getting to know each other (I will be asking a lot of questions!) but my purpose is to help you in a way that works for you. Therapy is most effective when you are direct about what works for you, what doesn't, and even if you feel a therapist with a different approach may be a better fit - I'll help you find a trusted colleague that meets your needs.
